It was a close one! Tough competition, time of 2:22 behind Bridge City Blue and Wasabi Power. We race again just after noon.
The 'Flies pulled away once again with a powerful finish to win their first gold medal of the 2013 season. Next, we travel to the other Vancouver for the Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival on False Creek in beautiful Vancouver, B.C. on June 21 and 22. Gwyn, Holly, Wendy, Debbie, Lindsey, and Amy paddled with assorted Peace Dragon Warriors, Fire Breathing Blowfish, and Bridge City to form the winning Awesome Sauce. Paddle for Life raised nearly $6000 toward the goal of bringing paddle sports to disabled veterans on Vancouver Lake. Congrats to the Golden Dragons who were the team that raised the most.
Our MC is making this race fun, Double Fifth has generously provided many fabulous raffle prizes, and there is even a Merlin Cd3+ up for grabs.
In our second race, the Flies improved the time. Our kickin' finish has pulled it out for us, two times. Nice work, ladies. One more race, Finals, stay tuned... Room to improve on the time, but a nice first race in the 10 paddler boat. Go Flies!
Next heat at 1:15. Bring your checkbook to support PFL. OWLS Dragonflies take fourth in Tacoma! Check back next week for pictures. Great day to be a Dragonfly.
Second place, good enough for finals, heat 26 at 3:15.
